2017 Design Roles Book Cover Design Brand Development The Process Karin Drummond, DC, is a prolific writer on a variety of health topics. Passionate about living well, she keeps up with new research in the health field and practices what she preaches. Her first book, Top Seven Ways to Combat the Effects of Sitting, was published in 2015 and was a finalist in the 2016 Best Book Awards in the Health, Diet and Exercise category. She has published several books since then, and decided to update her brand to be more cohesive, with a design that subtly expresses her "pearls of wisdom" theme and original photography by Kip May. 1Updating the Brand We began by exploring possibilities in typography, color, and imagery for Drummond's Combat Dis-Ease series. With so many changes needed to their website, it seemed like a good time to reevaluate the user experience and do a redesign. PenceLdesign updated the Spencer Psychology brand, transformed their website, and as a finishing touch, redesigned the business cards to match the updated brand look. 1Site Audit The old site was not mobile-friendly, and while loaded with information, weighed in at a clunky 26 pages. 2013 Design Roles Designer Illustrator The process Launched with funds from a New Frontiers Start-up Grant in 2013, the Petrarchive project is a rich text, interactive edition of Petrarch’s Rerum vulgarium fragmenta, an icon of western literature. Wayne Storey and John Walsh led the team that created 366 visual-textual prototypes based on Storey’s new edition of the work.
