The Hike
Some sections were a bit strenuous, but there were plenty of flat stretches on which to recover. There were truly breathtaking views and beautiful, mossy bridges.
The Emperor and the Yatagarasu
Myth says the Yatagarasu was a three-legged crow who guided the first Emperor of Japan through the Kumano mountains. You can see the emperor riding a cow an horse at the same time in the statue on the left. We also saw a bird with two legs, the Varied Tit.
Chikatsuyu
Our stay at Guesthouse Sora Chikatsuyu was unforgettable. It was so fun choosing a yukata to wear. Naomi helped us find the best route to our next lodgings and Yasu and I talked about love of jazz. Miles Davis is his favorite.
